SYNOPSIS

“With only 90 minutes until he has to fight for the heavyweight title, the world of boxing’s wildcard contender, ‘Diamond’ Derek Douglas, begins to fall apart as the weight of his past meets with unspoken truths of the present. As his team try to keep his head on the fight, even Derek questions if he will make it to the ring tonight.”

Playing out in real-time, Heavyweight provides an unseen view of a sporting world and the drama that unfolds behind closed doors.

Written and directed by Christopher M. Anthony and shot by BAFTA-winning cinematographer, Chas Appeti (Jungle) with an original score by Razorlight’s Andy Burrows (After Life), Heavyweight is a visceral viewing experience from start to finish. The language of the cinema evolves through the narrative through a haunting sound mix by Arran Mahoney and a dynamic edit by Eve Doherty.
